About Fiberglass

Fiberglass is a highly durable composite material, valued for its strength, lightness and versatility. Traditionally associated with industrial applications, it takes on a different character when worked by hand.

At VAVA Objects, we are drawn to the contrast between fiberglass as an industrial material and the irregularity of the handmade process. Fiberglass is layered and shaped by hand, allowing the fibres and traces of its making to remain visible.

Rather than concealing these characteristics, we embrace them as an integral part of the material. Variations in colour, surface and patina are inherent to the process, giving each object its own character.

Care & Maintenance

To preserve the surface and finish of your object, we recommend the following:

For waxed finishes:

  • Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Avoid abrasive or corrosive cleaning products.
  • Reapply wax when needed to maintain the protective layer and lustre.
  • Wipe spills and strongly pigmented substances promptly.

Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause changes in colour. For outdoor use, we recommend selecting one of our UV-protected finishes.

Fiberglass can be repaired and refinished over time. For advice on care or restoration, please contact us.
